Sometimes I catch myself cuddling a friend’s new baby and thinking how tough this phase of life is. The newborn, up all night, needing you every single second stage of motherhood. Then I glance over at my baby, my newly minted three-year-old, and I realize that’s not really where I am anymore. We’re out of diapers. We take naps, but sometimes we don’t. I haven’t nursed a baby in over a year and she can put on her own shoes. WHAT IS HAPPENING??

I wrote my birthday letter to Issa here, but today I wanted to share her party with you! It was a great morning with friends and family, and my brother and sister were even in town for their Spring Break! Issa’s favorite thing in the world right now is her Barbie Dream Camper, so we planned a Barbie camping theme. Also known as ordering everything Barbie, then everything camping from Amazon, and hoping our guests would get it! Who knew HEB has a CAMPING cake?! I’m pretty sure the only people who have ever ordered that in the past were retirees, but we mixed it up and stuck Barbie figurines all over that campsite.

Boerne Sign Gypsies came through again with an amazing yard sign, and Issa remembered EVERYTHING about Cora’s party, so we had to do it for hers as well! We also devoured hot dogs, s’mores, trail mix, and pink lemonade, because BARBIE DOESN’T CAMP WITHOUT PINK LEMONADE. Perhaps the most hilarious part of the party was my attempt to use Issa’s beloved camper as decoration on the table, must to the chagrin of Issa. She could NOT understand why mom wasn’t letting her play with her camper, so eventually I gave in and all the girls played on the floor with it. You win some, you lose some.

I found her adorable “Young Wild and Three” shirt from Amazon here. Amazon also came through with balloons, favors, and even camping-themed decorations! Seriously, how did people plan obscure party themes without online shopping?! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out, we love our girl and we’re so glad you do too! Enjoy the pictures below, and to those of my friends with TRUE babies, know they won’t be like that for long! 🙂

XO,

A
