Happy Easter from the Mendez-Valdez crew! 💜🌺✝️🐣 The @the_flower_fields deserved their own post on the feed because it was just too stunning to capture in a vacay roundup. The orchid greenhouse alone was incredible impressive, but then seeing rows and rows of ranunculus blooms was just joy overload. Mother Nature (with the help of many master gardeners, I presume) really outdid herself on this one, y’all. 😍

Amidst the craziness of Spring Break, Issa turned

Amidst the craziness of Spring Break, Issa turned 9! We celebrated all week with trips to the @sandiegozoo, @lajolla.ca to see the baby seals, @sdasm, and of course capped everything off with spending her big day @disneyland! My sister was the best host, the girls are obsessed with their cousins, and it is not lost on me that trips like this used to be way more challenging to make happen before @omv2033 retired from basketball. Blessed beyond measure to be in this new season of life, and blessed to have Issa Brooke in our lives. If you know her, you love her. She is the life of the party and personality to the max. It’s crazy to think this is our last year with one of our babies in the single digits! 🥹❤️

True story…I once had a prospect call me (yes, HE found US while searching for a PR and Marketing agency in San Antonio) and in our initial conversation he said, “Yeah, I was looking at your website and you have no men on your team featured anywhere. I’m just letting you know you might want to change that at some point so it doesn’t discourage guys like me from calling.” 😳🧐😂

First of all, sir, you did call. So something about what we’re doing is working. Second of all, if you view working with a team of strong, sharp women as a potential issue, you are not our ideal client and we can respectfully go our separate ways. 🥰

This is exactly why speaking to women business owners on panels like the @nawbosa Start Up luncheon this past week are such an honor. Because it fills me up so much to give these women a bit of encouragement. I know the challenges and “Aca-scuse me??” moments they’re about to encounter as they launch their own businesses and I just want to hug them and say: DO IT ANYWAY.

Do it scared. Do it even if you don’t have it all figured out yet. Just START, and you will find your people to walk alongside you every step of the way. We can do hard things! 💗

I’ve seen a trend lately on the interwebs that people are feeling fed up with the urge to jump into January with a bevy of resolutions or an all-out burst of energy. They’re feeling exhausted from that inevitable flurry of activity during end of year festivities and deadlines, so they prefer “No Plans January” or just a gentler approach to the first month of the year. Rest, resetting, and renewal are the priority. Personally I have been oscillating between both camps, so I’m curious: are you taking January slow this year?
