It was a crisp Spring morning in San Antonio, and I was just getting settled into my morning cup of coffee when I heard a knock on the door. Standing on my front porch was the smiling crew from O’Krent Floors, here to make our flooring installation a breeze! I know this is the part that sometimes gives folks the hives, but I want to help answer any questions you have and help you feel prepared for this stage of the process.
The first thing we did to prepare for installation was strip our bed of sheets and clear away any knick knacks or breakable items from our heavy pieces of furniture. We also removed any art work or wall hangings that could potentially fall with all the banging that is inevitable with floor installation. The O’Krent team moved anything heavy, so we didn’t have to worry about the bed, our dresser, etc. We actually didn’t have the decluttering quite complete by the time they arrived, but they jumped in to help and we were done in no time!
Once we gave the team the lay of the land and reviewed where the flooring was set to be placed, they wasted no time in getting to work. I was so appreciative of the fact that they were a perfect combination of efficient yet accurate. Gilbert, the team supervisor, was kind and professional, and the whole crew was very respectful about wearing masks any time they were in our home. Especially right now with the pandemic hopefully winding down, I was grateful that they still took precautions seriously!
Initially I thought in my head that I would still be able to work from my office while the crew was installing the floors, but I quickly realized the noise would be a bit much for my concentration capabilities. We took advantage of the time to take the girls to the park for Spring Break, and Jason O’Krent and his team kept us up to date via text on the crew’s progress. By the time we made it home, the crew was just finishing up, and I was thoroughly impressed with their attention to detail when cleaning up. As you can see above, they even used extra pieces of pulled up carpet to cover our tile and keep everything as protected as possible!
Flooring installation was by far the most dreaded portion of this process for me, but the O’Krent team made it virtually seamless. They allowed us to review the work at the end of the day, and voice any concerns or issues we may have. Can you hardly stand the wait to see the big reveal next week?!
