Happy Fall, y’all! The fall season is where the nights start to get darker, the temperatures can drop, and the leaves change color. Pumpkin spice is on everything, and Halloween celebrations and decorations are all around. It is the time that we transition from summer to winter, and start to make our homes and spaces warm and cozy. What are the best things to be doing to get you home ready for fall? Here are some of the things that you can do to get your home in tip-top shape and looking just as you want it.

Happy Fall, Y'all

Cut the lawn

The lawn will grow less and less as winter approaches, and no doubt it will have been growing and growing over the summer months. So a final cut to get it ready for fall is what will be needed right about now or in the coming weeks. It might need another cut a little down the line, but it will be much less than it has been in summer.

Deep clean the house

Spring clean is something that we often associate with spring rather than fall, but right about now can be an ideal time to have a deep clean at home. In summer the dry weather can mean a lot of dust, debris, and dirt can gather, so things like cleaning the windows can make a big difference, as well as cleaning things down like skirting boards and general dusting. Some outdoor areas could also do with a deep clean, such as jet washing the driveway that could have gotten quite dusty and dirty in the heat of the summer. These little things can all add up and make a difference, leaving your home gleaming for the winter and all of the holiday festivities that will be coming up.

Sort out furniture

As much of a scary thought as it can be, the holidays won’t be too far away. And global pandemic permitted, we will hopefully be gathering with family and friends and enjoying some time altogether. As a result, you may need to get some of the furniture in your home sorted. Perhaps you need to be on the lookout for some bedroom furniture discounts to get some more or replace what you already have. Perhaps you need to get more chairs or think about a larger dining table. Now is the time to go through these things, so that you can go from there and enjoy the holidays to the fullest.

Declutter

As has been mentioned, the holidays aren’t all that far away. And with the holidays comes gifts. And with gifts can come some junk and some clutter. So if you are looking to sort your home out, declutter, and reduce what you have, then now is the perfect time to do so, before you get a home full of gifts. Thrift stores, food banks, and other places will love to have your items that are no longer needed to recycle them, so that they aren’t just thrown out.
