As Haute in Texas has grown, it has become more and more apparent that I cannot do everything by myself. Especially in blogging and public relations, there is always something more you could be doing, always a stone left unturned at the end of the work day. But hopefully, with the newest addition to our staff, we are working to change that. Fernanda sent me an email a few months ago, as many aspiring young people do, and asked for a chance. What made her stand out to me was her willingness to learn, to do whatever it took to land the job. And guess what? Land it she did! You might be seeing her face at events around San Antonio in the very near future, so say hello to her today and in person soon!

Haute in Texas: Hi Fernanda! So, tell us a little about yourself. What was your childhood like?

Fernanda Sacramento: I was raised in the sister cities of Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Tamaulipas. I lived in Matamoros but would cross the border daily to attend school in Brownsville. My childhood life was full of adventures and laughter. I was never embarrassed to be my true self and was never shy to meet new people. I grew up being the youngest of three girls in a house full of dress-up, Barbies and all sorts of pets. I grew up surrounded by people who loved me and would support me no matter what.

HIT: What made you want to go into the fashion/PR world?

FS: Since I was young, I have always been fascinated with accessories or simple details that would go either on my head or around my neck. Looking through my grandmother’s closet was like looking into a treasure chest. Everything I could find that would make my outfit unique or one of a kind was my favorite, even styling out my school uniform to make it different. My interest in fashion continued to grow when I was introduced to the beauty of magazines like Teen Vogue and Nylon. Later I knew I wanted to go into the world of communication and fashion marketing.

HIT: How would you describe your personal style?

FS: My personal style can be described as a mixture of Boho meets Anthropologie. I have my style very defined and like to experiment with different textures; Patterns on patterns is my motto. I enjoy adding color to my outfit, which I feel says a lot about myself. I am a very passionate, outspoken and dreamer-type person.

I personally believe that glitter goes well with absolutely everything – The shinier the better. Oh, and I usually never wear black.

HIT: What’s your favorite beauty product right now?

FS: I’m obsessed with the Luzern pure oxygen radiance mask my mom gave me which hydrates your face and at the same time helps you with skin marks. It comes with a serum oil dropper, which you add to the mask and apply to your face. It makes you look radiant and feeling fresh. Also, I’ve been a fan lately of the Outlast Cover Girl lip-gloss in Lingering Spice. I finished a whole tube in a month!

HIT: What’s one fashion trend you wish everyone would stop wearing?

FS: Long acrylic nails. I feel I could never last a day with long false nails because I am a very active person. I would not be able to do things freely because I would be scared they would break.

HIT: If you could have any job in the entire world, what would it be?

FS: A Fashion Editor for Vogue.

HIT: What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

FS: One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received was to show my love to those who are around and not when it’s too late, and to live life to the fullest every day.

HIT: Finally, an Haute in Texas tradition, pancakes or waffles?

FS: WAFFLES PLEASE!
