laser hair removal ideal image

I can’t hardly believe it, but my initial treatment plan with Ideal Image has finally come to an end. Wayyyyy back in September of 2017, I started trying out laser hair removal, and I have to admit I was terrified before my first appointment. I had all kinds of misconceptions, and over the past 18 months I have shared those with you all and answered any questions you had. I wanted to round up all those thoughts in one blog post for you and let you know how I’m liking the results!

FAQ #1: Does it hurt?

  • The answer is, a smidge. It’s a hard feeling to describe, but it’s basically like a rush of air followed by a quick shock. The laser’s settings are low in the beginning, and then throughout your treatment plan they slowly rise the settings so things are a little more intense, BUT HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS. It’s over fast. So even if it doesn’t feel fantastic, it’s literally only minutes out of your life. I think my longest appointment the actual laser portion took maybe 7 minutes. That’s it. I survived natural childbirth with zero pain medication twice, so this was a mental game I was prepared to win. But I actually walked into my first appointment thinking it might take an hour, so I don’t want to put you through that anguish!

FAQ #2: Where did you have it done?

  • Ideal Image asked if I wanted to try a Brazilian, and initially I was like, “Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”. 🙂 But you all know I’m up for trying just about anything in the name of this blog, so I gave it a go. I have to say I’m so glad I just sucked it up and did it. Next I think I’d love to try my lower legs and armpits. I almost don’t remember what it was like before. I just take it for granted now that I don’t even have to think about maintaining that, er, area.

FAQ #3: Does it work?

  • I can’t stress this enough: YES. I’ve seen about 80-90% hair reduction, and literally my last 3-4 appointments were just spot treatments because there literally was not enough left for them to treat. I was a good candidate because I have fair skin but dark hair, so you will have to check with your local Ideal Image before beginning treatment. For me, at least, I’m EXTREMELY happy with the results, and I can’t tell you how great my experience was. I also have to urge you to choose a reputable and high quality facility like Ideal Image for your treatment, as not all lasers are created equally. Ideal Image uses the best of the best, and therefore produces the best results.

FAQ #4: Anything I should know before beginning treatment?

  • One thing I did not realize before starting my laser hair removal was you cannot have any sun exposure to the area while it’s being treated. That means for the last 18 months I have had to be extremely careful to protect my bikini line from the sun, and even sunless tanners. Some of my appointments my treatment specialist could tell I had a bit of a tan line after summer trips, even though I had been careful, and had to avoid those areas to prevent an adverse reaction. I appreciated them looking out for my safety first and foremost so much!

FAQ #5: How long does it last?

  • Since I completed an entire 18 months-long program, my results are more or less permanent. If I do see hair regrowth, however, Ideal Image has a Lifetime Guarantee where I can pay a small co-pay for touch-ups as needed. Most people don’t need to come back for years, if ever, and I have a feeling I’m probably set for life! Until I head back to try some other areas, that is. 🙂
