I still remember the day Orlando and I purchased my vehicle, our first as a couple. We were newly married, newly pregnant, and we pretty quickly realized that we were going to need a bigger vehicle than his college Chrysler 300. We shopped around for a mid-size SUV, looked at high end, low end, and everything in between. It was exhausting, and in the end we made a rash decision in purchasing my car without really thinking through the financials. Not so bad that we suffered any long term effects, but now that we know better on a few items it still makes us cringe to this day.

I’ve loved my Ford Edge ever since, though, and it has been SUPER nice having it paid off for a few years now. But slowly but surely, there are components that are starting to fail, technology that’s starting to get outdated, and I keep seeing bright and shiny SUVs on the road everywhere I go. So I’ve made myself a deal: when Issa starts Kindergarten next year, mama gets a brand new car.

The reason for this is two-fold:

1) I get a raise with her no longer in private preschool. and
2) We will then have an 8 and a 5-year-old, HYPOTHETICALLY in a phase where the messes are a little less extreme and a nice, new vehicle won’t be a constant panic attack for me.

Now that we’re almost a decade older, I’d like to think we’re a bit wiser to the car shopping experience now. But the truth is it still feels overwhelming to me, and who has the time to drive from dealer to dealer, kicking tires and fending off salespeople? That’s where the San Antonio Auto Show absolutely made my day when they offered to show us around this year’s extravaganza!San Antonio Auto Show

Going on now at the Henry B Gonzales Convention Center, the SA Auto Dealers produce the annual San Antonio Auto and Truck Show (SAATS) a preeminent automotive event bringing all things automotive to South Texas each November.  Dubbed “the largest showroom in South Texas”, show visitors may shop and compare the newest model vehicles and the latest cutting-edge technologies every year. It’s also way more than just a car show, there are celebrity appearances, giveaways, and kid-friendly activities that make it a great day for the whole family. The best part is tickets are only $8 for seniors and military, $4 for kids 6-10, and just $10 for adults!

That price is completely worth the convenience of seeing all the major brands in one place, having a great time with the family, and enjoying a weekend out and about! The Show is going on now through the 24th, and the full schedule is available on the website. I love my time there this morning, so let me know what you think if you go!

XO,

A
