Carpet and hardwoods may not seem like a place for high-tech software or innovation, but O’Krent Floors blew me away during our selection process with their technology capabilities. As we mentioned a couple weeks ago, we’re having hardwood floors installed to replace our shabby builder beige carpet, but it turned out to be a much more exciting process that I anticipated.
First, when Jason came to the house he took extremely precise measurements of every square inch. Using his iPad and a laser measurement tool (pictured below), the measurements are then converted into floor plan models that can be manipulated to show different pricing options based on the flooring options available. It’s also smart enough to recognize how much waste would be left over from say, our master bedroom carpet roll, that we could then use to carpet our master closet with the excess. I love that it’s saving you money and thinking in eco-friendly terms too!
In addition to these impressive functions, O’Krent’s also boasts an impressive Room Visualizer tool where you can upload a photo of your room and immediately plug in different flooring options to see how they change up the look and feel of the space. This was particularly helpful when we were considering bold patterned carpet, because it’s difficult to tell how the pattern will translate across an entire room vs. a sample piece! Here’s an example O’Krent’s sent me from just a photo on my blog, which proves just how easy it is!
So with these two technologies in place, within just one visit we were able to envision our dream flooring scenario both spatially and aesthetically. Particular for someone like me with zero knack for interior design, I appreciated feeling confident about our selections from there. More on that process next week, so stay tuned!
