Our True Beauty series here at Haute in Texas is one of my favorites. We’ve highlighted women who are talking about social issues, women who are building fantastic careers, and women who are doing a ton of good in the world. There’s no shortage of women I could highlight on a daily basis that inspire me, and that includes today’s feature: Dr. Megan Hembree. You may recognize her smiling face as she also happens to be my orthodontist. If you’ve been following along, you know I’m a few months in to my journey with adult braces, and Dr. Hembree has been a huge part of making my time as a metal mouth enjoyable, and I’m so excited for you all to get to know her better as well! We recently sat down with her to find out more about what makes her a true beauty.

Haute in Texas: Hi Dr. Hembree! Let’s start off by finding out our most burning question: what made you want to become an orthodontist?

Dr. Megan Hembree: I wanted to become an orthodontist starting in the 4th grade.  I was a patient myself and I loved it because everyone was always so happy!

HIT: What’s the most rewarding thing about your job and owning your own business?

DRMH: The most rewarding is of course seeing how much a smile can change someone’s life!  I also love getting to know the patients.  Orthodontics has given me an opportunity to have a family but also have such a rewarding career as well.

HIT: What advice do you give to young women thinking about having a career and raising a family?

DRMH: My advice is you can do anything as long as you have your priorities and focus in line.  I attribute a strong faith in God and treating everyone as you would want to be treated!

HIT: What’s the one thing you want people to know about their oral health?

DRMH: I always tell people it is so much more than just your teeth.  It is fascinating how the mouth and body are so interrelated.

HIT: Final question, an Haute in Texas tradition: pancakes or waffles?

DRMH: Waffles!

She’s awesome, right?! For a limited time, Ferris Orthodontics is offering busy moms just like Megan and myself 15% off Invisalign or braces if your child is a patient at Ferris! Your initial consultation is always free, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. If you’re new to Ferris, Haute in Texas readers can receive $250 off their Invisalign or braces if you just tell them we sent you!

We’ve also been fortunate enough to start working with Ferris on the Agency side of Haute in Texas, and I’ve been so amazed to see how passionate their fans are online. In one parenting group I’m in, someone randomly asked for orthodontist recommendations, and I couldn’t believe how many people (who had no idea their posts were being watched by someone working with Ferris) wholeheartedly sang their praises. That’s a tribute to Dr. Ferris and Dr. Hembree for leading a team that knows how to treat people right. Give ’em a call for you or your kiddos ASAP!

XO,

A
