It’s the most wonderful time of the year – no, not Christmas, COCKTAIL! The annual event by the San Antonio Current is one of my FAVES every summer. Remember when we did our 80’s themed shoot? Or the 90’s theme year when we were channeling A League of Their Own? Tori and I love a good theme, obviously.
The thing with COCKTAIL is it’s not your usual hum-drum food and wine tasting where everybody sort of chuckles softly and listens to soft jazz. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But THIS is a party. It sells out every year, it’s in the fun-filled surroundings of The Doseum, and there’s only 50 General Admission tickets left as of right now!
Ready for the best part? This year’s theme is SPACE AGE, and the opportunities for a killer outfit are endless. I’m thinking silver hair, bedazzled boots, laser beams, you get the gist. Tori and I will be judges for the fashion contest once more, and I cannot wait to see what you all come up with. Each year the looks are more and more impressive, and it’s going to be a sci-fi blast.

So what to wear, what to wear. The way I see it, you have three choices:
1. Sexy Space Cadet
If your idea of a Halloween costume is kitten ears, a black mini dress, and drawing whiskers on your cheeks, this is the look for you. Adorable space buns, bedazzled makeup, crop top, cute denim cutoffs, and platform shoes are a must. You’ll be channeling space while also turning heads.

2. Retro Future
Harken to the days of classic sci fi films with a DIY futuristic throwback. Pull from the 60’s and 70’s with their space obsessions and groovy styles. The beauty of this look is you can find vintage thrift store finds that play perfectly into your theme. So cool – and cheap!

3. Full-on Awesomeness
I personally live for the people who take COCKTAIL to hilarious levels. Get creative, get witty, and definitely reference pop culture. This alien abduction look is hysterical, and I guarantee folks will be asking to take a selfie with you all night. Be prepared to be famous – if only for one night!
